We're still at it...

Hi everyone,

Hope you are still keeping on!!  We are doing great and have lost a total of 91.2 lbs....wooohoooo.  Life is a challenge and so is a healthy life style.  yet, it seeps right into your bones.  This past week the gym was closed for it's annual cleaning and boy was it a shock to see how much I missed it.  Yes we tried a couple others out in the mean time but they were not "my gym".  I am still up on my feet and doing things like the elliptical and even the stair mill for a couple of minutes.  it is truly amazing!  I am still a part of the Goal Getters on the Biggest Loser Club website and love the support, motivation, amd inspiration that is throughout the site!!  I have been able to give back to these amazing folks by becoming more involved and accountable along the way.

That being said I love cardio and struggle more with doing the strength training but it comes along as well.  My food is good and at 1,499 - 1,799 calories of which I stick to the high end.  I have not had many weeks where the scale has went up but it slowly and surely continues to journey downward so I have no complaints.

The weight loss is great but the walking, more positive attitude, the smaller clothes, the more stamina, and the overall feel of achievement are much greater.  I am looking forward to the show coming back this fall and working out and losing with the other "losers".

Hope you are all still at it and enjoying this new life style and the journey along the way!!!

Take care and get that booty movin',

Hi everyone

Boy it has been too long since we have been out here to say hi and that we are still living healthy.  We have lost a total of 80.5 lbs as of last Friday...how exciting is that!!!!  The Biggest Loser Club has been the best thing we have done to stay motivated and continue on this awesome journey.  We are both involved on one of the bootcamp teams the Goal Getters and there is an amazing group of ladies there.  For the most part life is just good today.  There are those roller coaster days but they are farther andfarther in between.

Hope everyone out there is still doing this new way of life and loving it!  Together we can succeed and WILL!!

Take care everyone,
Mary

Good morning

Hi everyone,

It has been a long long time since I have posted out here.  Sorry about that.  Life is good and full and healthy.  Hoping either this week or next to be at a loss of 50 pounds...can you believe it?  if you would of ask me where I thought I'd be after 16 short weeks it certainly wouldn't have been this far along.  Life is good.  I have been doing BootCamps with the Biggest Loser club and they are truly transforming inside and out!!  I am on the best team around out there called the Goal Getters and the name says it all for this group of ladies.  I am still on my feet and have not had any problems as of late with the Rheumatoid Arthritis.....for this I am very grateful.  Being this healthy has helped my joints tremendously, as well as my whole outlook on life.  I truly believe this is a journey of the mind.  What I believe of myself I will become!  Again sorry for taking so long to check in but wanted everyone to know life is good today....and since today is all we get it works for me!!

Take care all and let us know how you are doing!!

Well it's been awhile...

but i just wanted to drop in and say hi to anybody who does swing by. this week has been bumpy because i caught a cold again. you'd think with all the improvements i've made with food and exercise especially, that i'd be a little less prone to getting the crud, but no luck lately. still, i'm so happy with how things are going and the changes we're making towards launching a new life.

we've lost around 70 lbs between us now. if you'd told me that was even possible at christmas i would have thought you were nuts, but here we are. i'm hoping as soon as i feel a little better, maybe tomorrow, i can get back to the gym. i think moving is going to be the thing that keeps me afloat.

anyway. not much else to say, but wanted to say hi and let everybody know we're out here and even if we're not at the finale, we'll be cheering THE GIRLS on at home (the guys are great, but it's time for a woman to win!)

best to everybody!

Bob on Food and Exercise

Bob's Words of Wisdom

Bob on Food:

If it grows out of the ground, or you can pick it off a tree, chances are that it's good for you.

Eliminate the problem. Get rid of temptation foods in your house. Don?t even bring them in.

If you don't have measuring cups available, use your fist to figure out correct portions. From chicken breasts to veggies to fruit, just about every portion you'll eat is the size of your fist.

Bob on Exercise:

Thinking that you can't get in shape because you don't have two hours a day to exercise is just another excuse for doing nothing. Start small, because small can only get bigger. Starting big means burning out, blowing out, getting injured--another reason you might quit altogether.

When Michael Phelps is in the pool swimming, what is he thinking about? He's thinking about one thing and that's swimming faster. When Lance Armstrong is in a race, what is he thinking about? Pedaling faster.

Bob on Motivation:

The main thing is to make peace with your body now, before you try to change it. Accept where you are at the moment. Okay, you're overweight. But how great that you've decided to do something about it

Kristen's Profile

Hi, I signed up and started everything on January 1. My reasons for doing this are pretty basic. I'm 46 and I weigh nearly 300 lbs. I'm killing myself an inch at a time and the fact of it is I want to live. I have high blood pressure and pre-diabetes and this is just not the life I want. It's hard to move, to get out of chairs, to tie my shoes. I can barely walk around the block and I have plantar fascietis as a result of being fat, that just plain hurts with every single step. Three years ago I had an estrogen related cancer, which has been handled, but fat makes estrogen and so I'm continuing to jeopardize my well-being.

I've been fat to one degree or another since I was seven years old, with a brief normal weight period in my teens. I always was basically healthy and basically could do what I wanted and refused to let my weight get in the way of that. I always said if it ever reached a point where fat was effecting my health, then it would be a different matter and I would get serious. Well I've reached that point. I have also reached the point where a lot of the joy of living is gone from my life because I'm just too big to be a real participant in life. And I don't want that. Life is the greatest game, a game even bigger than the Biggest Loser. It's a gift and all I have to do is show up. I don't want to spend any more of the game on the bench, so here I am.

To quote the great Joe Lewis, "You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough." Here's to working it.

Jillian

Mary's Profile

I am 36 years old and ready to be healthy and live a long happy life. Last September Kristen and I went on a Royal Carribean Cruise to San Juan, St Maartin, and Labadee Haitee. It was a great trip for me. The ship was the most accessible place I had been for awhile. On the ship I was able to try assisted rock climbing and swimming. I did them both and wanted more. That is when I figured out it I have been holding myself back because of my illness.

Seven years ago I was bed-ridden for ten months while being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and figuring out a plan to go forward. My doctor at that time just threw me on tons of pain killers and didn't want me to do any form of excersise or physical therapy. Being extremely active before I went down and maintaining a weight of 170lbs for years (without trying) this was all really hard on me psychologically.

Going on the cruise and just having fun and trying new things showed me I can do anything I put my mind to. My main focus for losing the weight at this point is getting out of the wheelchair over the next couple of months and walking on stage at the finale. Also, just to be active, it makes me so happy, and it makes me feel like the person inside me. It will happen , because when I get determined I have been able to do anything.

Who better to do it with then the person or people we spend a majority of our time with. Good luck to all and we will all succeed. I know for me the amount of work I put into doing this I will get that much reward in life.
